Synopsis

Dorothy Kelley is a born romantic, searching for her prince. Instead she finds herself pregnant at fifteen, and a in a loveless marriage by the tender age of eighteen.

Then hope comes riding into her life on a motorcycle and within weeks, Jason “Jase” Brady, a member of the Hell’s Horsemen motorcycle club, sweeps Dorothy off her feet.

But nothing is ever simple for Dorothy. Jase is married with children. And as Dorothy patiently waits for Jase to give her the happily-ever-after she’s been dreaming about, James “Hawk” Young, a member of the Hell’s Horsemen with secrets of his own, sees an opening into Dorothy’s life and takes it.

Carrying on two secret affairs is no easy feat. As Dorothy tries to dig herself out of the mess she’s created, covering one mistake with another, tragedy strikes, nearly costing Dorothy her life and that of her unborn son.

What follows is a long and painful journey of self-discovery and forgiveness, as Dorothy comes to realize that home was exactly where she’d left it, and the love she’d forever craved had always been within her reach.

This is the story of Dorothy, Jase, and Hawk.

We are all born pure; it is our journey that burdens us and leads us astray. Our mistakes that beat us down and cover us in guilt and shame, burying us a little more with each passing hardship. It is up to us to dig ourselves out, to come to terms with our faults, to embrace not only our imperfections but those of the ones we love, and to once again find the path we strayed from.

Warning: This is not a conventional or predictable love story. It involves one woman and two men bound by a love so destructive it spans two decades, pitting brother against brother, and shattering the lives of those touched by it.

CARISSA'S REVIEW

4 "Ain't no such thing as mistakes,"
"There's only shit that happens and shit that don't."  stars

My review is being written from Hawk and Dorothy's POV.

****

The silver lining. Dorothy loves me. Me! James "Hawk" Young.

But, it wasn't always this way. It took me, us, eight motherfuckin' years to get here. Eight motherfuckin' years I lost with the woman I loved, with my son, with my family.

Past - Hawk
I never thought she was a whore, she something.. something different... someone that deserved better.. better than that motherfucker, Jase. Dorothy had an innocence and naivety about her. Something that made her beautiful, inside and out.  Dorothy Kelley Matthews was in love with a married man, with a family of three little girls. She was married and having an affair, with Jase.

Jason "Jase" Brady, the selfish motherfucker that he is. Wanted to keep his family and Dorothy all at the same time. Keeping her hidden within the confines and protection of the club, with broken promises and tender kisses.

We came together to escape our lives, we took solace in each other arms. It was raw, unbridled lust, it was pain, fear and anguish, it was pure selfishness.

The way I used to look at her. Stealing glances from across the room as I stood in the shadows, my gaze running up and down the length of her, deliberately slow, drinking her in.

I wanted her. I want her. She's mine. But I was never hers.

Present - Dorothy
90% of communication is non-verbal.

Excerpt from Unbeloved:
Glances across the room. Locked gazes. Secret smiles. Silent conversations. When it comes to lust, words are never needed. You feel something inside you stir, your body begins to warm, and you just know. You can feel something buried spring to life, and just like that a connection is born. You're strangers, then suddenly you're something more... kindred spirits, like-minded in your attraction for each other.

I'd had that with both Jase and Hawk.

Past - Dorothy
Pregnant at fifteen, married at eighteen, I fell in love with a married man and had an affair with him at twenty-four. Pining away after him, while he went home to his wife and three girls.

My weaknesses, my choices, and my decision- the ones I made and the ones I didn't- all took me down a rocky road filled with regret, heartbreak, and pain. And eventually, they nearly killed me.

Chrissy, Jase's wife, raised her hand, the sunlight reflecting off the silver metal, as I turned to run. Then it all went black.

Life was made up of moments, big ones and little, the good and bad, dark and light. We never remembered the gray, the times in between, but instead only the moments that had the ability to transform us in some way, affect us so completely that the memory would be forever etched upon who we were, who we are, and who we would become.

Chrissy shooting me, was probably the second best thing that happened in my life. My son, Christopher, the first.

Jase found himself pinned up against the elevator by his throat.
"Do the math, asshole, Hawk hissed. "Nine, fuckin' months ago, where the fuck were you?"
"No," Jase whispered. "No, she wouldn't-"
"No? Brother, yes. She's been comin' to me for years, crying' about you. And if you're still havin' doubts, I know for a fact you were usin' protection with her, and me, I wasn't even tryin' to safeguard my shit. I blew my load inside her every fuckin' time, know why? Because," Hawk growled. "I was tryin' to knock her up. Wanna know why? Because I was tryin' to get her the fuck away from you!"
~ Excerpt from Unbeautifully (Undeniable #2)

This was the day, my entire world ended.

Present- Dorothy

This isn't just my story, the story of a broken woman who lost her way. It's also the story of my children, the men I loved, and the friends who were more family to me than my own.
This is the story of us all, all our fates intertwined. And for that reason alone, pain and death be damned, I wouldn't change a thing.

Determined to move on, determined to be strong and finally fight for what I want, I kissed Jase, a tender loving kiss. This single kiss portrayed my unexpressed emotions and feelings, mostly, it said Good-bye.

It took me eight years to finally admit my love for Hawk, eight years of pain and anguish. Of living in the past and surviving the present.

Eight years and the words, I love you, finally being uttered. Uttered to the most unexpected of men, Hawk. My man, the father of my child, my defender, my love. MINE.

*****************

This was a story I was impatiently awaiting and it did not disappoint at all. I loved the different dynamics that were at play. Being updated about the lives of the other members of the MC group.

My review didn't go into depth with the story. I mean, you gotta buy the book and read it.
