Jess has dismissed last night as some major hormonal time of the month ordeal and waves it off without talking about it while she pours me a drink. She’s getting the beers ready to take to the grunge band that’s playing tonight when a couple of guys start shoving and yelling at the bar. Jess jerks her head towards Jason, who slides over the counter and steps in between the two just in time to catch a fist full of knuckles. “Shit!” Jess leaves the tray on the bar and tries to demand the men to knock it off, but a beer bottle is thrown, smashing a few inches away from me at the bar, the dark liquid and glass splashing me. The fight quickly spreads into an affray of arms, fists, and bodies being thrust left and right. Jess heads towards the door to get Gavin from outside. I’ve seen a couple of fights between some of Justin’s jock friends who had too much to drink at parties back home, but this is insane. The crowded space in front of the bar has turned into a wrestling and boxing match, and I scoot back to avoid more shattered glass when I slam into a sharp elbow sending me stumbling forward. Panic ensues as I hit the ground and am knocked back and forth, keeping me from scrambling to my feet. A pair of large, strong hands wrap around my waist, sweeping me off the ground and landing me on top of the counter. “Get behind the bar and stay there,” Breck demands gruffly, directly before grabbing the tattooed fist of a shaved headed man whose intent was to send his fist into the crew cut military looking Goliath. Breck twists the man’s arm behind his back, slamming his face against the bar. No gratitude is bestowed by Goliath as he throws a punch at Breck, who ducks, landing his elbow against the man’s ribs, then administering a sharp jab and an upward thrust of his forearm into Goliath’s nose. Blood streams as he falls backwards. The scene in front of me passes in a minute but it seems like it’s playing in slow motion as I watch Breck single handedly defusing a large part of the melee, dodging fists and elbows as he lands perfectly precise blows too many times for me to keep count. I’m in a state of stunned awe, horrified, mesmerized, and more than a little ashamed at how I’m completely turned on watching Breck’s toned body twist and turn, his shirt pressing tight against the outline of his chiseled muscles when he takes down man after man. Gavin reaches the bar and flashes an exuberant grin as he joins in the brawl. The difference between the two is staggering. Gavin seems to be thoroughly enjoying the violent chaos, while Breck’s eyes are hard and calculated as he seems to find no amusement in the serious damage he’s causing. Jess climbs over the top of the bar with me and grabs my arm, pulling me flush with her to the opposite counter. Her eyes bounce between Jason, Gavin, and Breck, not fazed in the least. She grabs a pitcher of water and throws the whole thing at a long-haired, pierced broad shouldered man who is gaining the upper hand on Jason. A few more faces are bloodied before the fight is contained. Breck’s chest rises and falls from his exertion. His brow has a sheen of sweat and the veins on his neck are pulsating. I watch how eerily calm he is as he glances around the room, his fists still tightly coiled and ready to strike. Jess hauls herself on the bar, pushing to her feet, “If you are still in one piece, then count yourself as one lucky sonofabitch and have a beer on the house, but if you’re one of the bleeding assholes, get the hell out of my bar and don’t even think about dragging your ass back until you sleep it off, or you won’t be able to walk out of here next time.” Gavin slaps the back of Breck’s shoulder, absolutely beaming, “Oh hell, yeah. Now, that’s what I call a good night.” Seemingly satisfied that all the potential threats have been neutralized, Breck’s gaze lands on mine, and I’m amazed that he went through all of what I just had a front row seat to untouched. I check out the small cut above Gavin’s eye, just shy of his temple, before cringing when I see Jason. His eye and nose are busted and bleeding. Breck shows no signs of what happened, other than looking as if he finished a heavy workout. Jess grabs Jason’s chin, inspecting his bloodied face before pushing her thumb against the side of his nose. “Damn, Jess, cut it out,” he snaps, knocking her hand away. She laughs, “Not broken this time.” Jason must see the residual shock registered on my face because he clicks his chin up when he looks at me, “You alright, Em?” Jess slides back over the bar top, plopping down in front of me and wrapping my arm in hers, grinning, “This is her first party; she’ll be just fine, won’t you?” Shaking it off, I scan the crowd that is now back to normal, drinking and talking like what just happened is a perfectly normal occurrence. “This happen a lot? Broken noses, bloody floors, and all that?” Breck’s gaze turns hard again as he barks, “Oh, that’s right. You’re of the philosophy of turning the other cheek.” Indignation rises, tinting my cheeks at his scoffing tone, “No. I – um- I mean-” not sure what I’m trying to say, I shut up, trying to match his admonishing stare but it comes out more like a twisted awed curiosity, “how did you do that?” Gavin’s hand soundly slaps Breck’s back again, “Our boy here can kick some serious ass, go all the way to the pros, if he’d just embrace what he’s got.” Breck shrugs Gavin’s hand away as Jess’ glare to shut up seems to mute Gavin. With one quick glimpse, Breck inspects me, “Were you hurt?” The words are gruff but there’s the tiniest flash of concern in his eyes. “No – sorry,” I state hurriedly, realizing that I didn’t thank him for getting me out of the stampede before I did get hurt, “thank you for moving me.” That strong, lightly specked jaw is still wound tight when he gives a sharp nod, “Don’t be late tomorrow.” Wanting to be a smartass, I refrain from saluting at his order and let it go as he turns to leave. “You just got here,” Gavin blurts, “throw him a beer, Jess.” “Not tonight,” he mumbles before walking away. I watch how the crowd thins, moving out of Breck’s way as he walks by. His reputation seems to include more than just being a god and Casanova; apparently, he’s also feared.

Kristen Callihan is a child of the 80’s, which means she's worn neon skirts, black-lace gloves, and combat boots (although never all at once) and can quote John Hughes movies with the best of them. A life long daydreamer, she finally realized that the characters in her head needed a proper home and thus hit the keyboard. She believes that falling in love is one of the headiest experiences a person can have, so naturally she writes romance. Her love of superheroes, action movies, and history led her to write historical paranormals. She lives in the Washington D.C. area and, when not writing, looks after two children, one husband, and a dog — the fish can fend for themselves.

4 'Everything' Stars

Life is a series of moments. Moments all stringed together that can unequivocally change the direction of your life. Moments that are gathered and become memories of stories past and those to still pass.

The second our gazes connect, hot tingles zap through me, making my breath catch and my nipples harden.

Then he opens his mouth and ruins everything.

"Hey there, Big Red."

A moment - Perfection in the making.

Perfection is a fallacy, but Drew Baylor was a slow building inferno. Starting from the bottom of my soles, coursing throughout my body, building slowly, heating my core, turning my insides molten. Heated intensity, until everything that he is, just bursts through the surface. Battle Axe Baylor, has crushed all my mistaken beliefs. He's addictive, and serene. With a hint of EVERYTHING.

Drew Baylor is the the coveted College man, and jock. He's the star Quarterback and revered wherever he goes. Falling for the opposite of what is his MO, Anna Jones, the sexy, curvaceous, sassy and quick witted Redhead was the perfect opponent for Drew. A mighty match, from a single moment in time, that will prove that you can conquer your fears and survive. Coming out on top, with a little Drew whipped cream, and an Anna cherry to set it to fabulosity. lol my word.

Anna and Drew start off rocky, skirting around each other, even with the sizzling air that surrounds them. Drew wants her, she's different. Anna sees him, not the image, just simple Drew Baylor. Anna cannot get past her teenage fears and shortcomings. How can Drew be interested in her? It must be a trick? He's "bigger" than she is. This can't be possible. It's a push and pull type of start, a tug of war- of words, emotions, bodies and hearts. Ultimately the uniting of perfect opposites.

The Hook Up, which happens at a party, sets the pace for the story. Creating vivid images and lusty emotions within the reader. Each emotion felt to the core. Rolling and rippling within me. I felt like a third wheel. An on looker from the inside out. Standing beside them as their story was created, unraveled and portrayed.

Anna decides she needs boundaries that will help her along with Drew. She sets certain rules:

No kissing,
no staying the night,
no telling anyone,
 and above all....
No falling in love.

“Why won’t you let me kiss you, Anna?”
 I can’t breathe.
“Why, Anna?”
“It’s too much,” I rasp.
“Not when I want everything.” He says it so deep and strong, a staking of a claim. “And I want everything with you, Anna.”

It was so amazing to see each and every one of those rules, BROKEN! Finally shattered by the intimacy of their first kiss. A kiss that I believe sealed the deal. Anna needed that little push. A jump start so to speak. Symbolizing, wholeheartedly, giving of herself over to Drew. Her heart, with it's armor slowly breaking away.

Moments -
Taking Drew means taking the good, the bad, and the in-between, Just as he takes me.

Excerpt
I do the entire problem over three times before finally summoning the courage to raise my hand. What I wouldn’t give to be enrolled in an all-girls Catholic school right now, so I could actually focus on learning math instead of being intimidated to raise my hand because of my teacher’s insane good looks. He’s working with another student when he notices my hand in the air and gives me a quick nod to let me know he’ll be there in a minute. My palms moisten, and I wipe them down on my jeans, scolding myself for being such an idiotic school girl with uncontrollable urges. So pathetic. “My calculator’s messed up,” I say as he approaches my desk. “Let me take a look at it.” I hand it to him with swift obedience. “I swear I entered everything correctly.” “I can figure it out,” he says. “I can work these things forward and backward.” My stomach swirls as he squats down next to me, pressing a combination of buttons and pulling up screens I’ve never seen before. I peer over his shoulder in amazement. This man can work a TI-84 graphing calculator like nobody’s business. Am I seriously finding this sexy? I’ve just reached a new low. “Okay, your settings were off, but I also think you entered a number in wrong somewhere.” “I checked three times,” I say, annoyed. He smirks. “It’s a machine; it can’t make a mistake. It can only do what you tell it to.” He places it in front of me and stands. “Is it updated?” he asks, picking it up again. I have no idea what he means, and I think he can tell with the way he smiles at me. “I’ll check it for you.” He walks over to his desk and plugs it into his computer. I didn’t even know you could do that. I observe him as another student comes up to his desk and asks a question. His self-assurance is so alluring. High school boys seem to overcompensate for their lack of confidence, coming off as arrogant. But Mr. Slate is older, more mature. He never crosses the fine line that divides confidence and arrogance. And even though I try to fight it, I’m finding myself drawn to him like a hummingbird thirsty for nectar. He makes me want to be more mature, sexy, and assertive. He makes me want to be a woman. “Here you go, Kaley,” he says, dissolving my thoughts. He sets my calculator on my desk, his chestnut eyes gleaming into mine. “Let me know if you need anything else.” Oh, help me.

4 "McHottie"Stars

HOT.TEACHER.TABOO. HELL YEAH!!!

The Force of Gravity is one of the best student, teacher romances, I've read. This book was enthralling till the end. It kept me wanting more, just simply wanting on the whole.

Kaley Kennedy and Mr. Slate meet within the confines of the Math classroom at Kaley's high school. At eighteen all Kaley is excited about is attending USC for college. Then there's the dreaded "V" card that she's holding on to. However, it's not so much that she's holding on to it, but that she hasn't found the "right" person to lose it to. Fighting pier pressure from her friends, boyfriend and the general school populus. Kaley is determined to move as far away from home as possible. Her home life is in a mess, her boyfriend seems to be content on being the heir to his family's business, and staying in Arizona, while trying to get Kaley to give up the "V" card, her best friend, Emily, is fighting to keep their group of four (Kaley, Emily, Derek and Tommy) together as long as possible, until their ultimate send offs and then, their's Mr.Slate.

Mr.Slate, the hot, new, twenty-five year old, toned, HOT, YOUNG, Math teacher at the high school. Imagine Kaley's surprise when she sees Mr.Slate, in a three-piece suite, with possibly the most alluring caramel she's ever seen. Every one loves him - all the girls drool over him, lusting after him and flirting unscrupulously; the boys find him
easy-going and cool, and he's their baseball coach; he willing gives his free time for study classes every Friday evening and he generally makes math easier to understand; and then their seems to be this attraction between Kaley and Mr.Slate, that they both are trying to fight.

Struggling to transition from adolescence to adulthood, Kaley finds a friend in Mr.Slate, someone she can talk with easily and release all her feelings and pent up frustrations. Yet, there is always the dreaded "teacher, student" veil of inappropriate interaction that hangs over them like a wet blanket. All the more because of the gravitation pull that keeps drawing them together- A simple glance, a small, tender smile, a challenging math problem, the feeling of being watched and the sizzling air around them both when the other is near.

While Kaley is struggling with life- school, friends, her parents, her crushed dreams for college, she is also starting to realise that her so called "normal" life, is leaving her wanting. Mr. Slate is the newest addition to Kaley's life and he is the only person challenging her in a positive way. Unconsciously, Kaley starts destroying her relationships. I don't think she was destroying her relationships as the book portrays. Kaley meeting Mr. Slate challenged her and it also changed her outlook on life. Kaley started standing up for herself and fighting against the normalcy of being a teenager and all the pier pressure. And honestly, I really hated Emily. Her parts as the giggly, girly friend drooling over Mr.Slate was fine, but when it came to being a friend, she was horrible and so self conceited.

One night things took a turn down a different and very pleasant road, or equation, or.. hmmm... trying to find a proper math analogy. Ahhh well!!!

"I care about you, Kaley."
"What do you mean?"

He lifts my chin, and before I can process what's happening, he leans down and presses his warm lip tenderly against mine.

And then woohooooooo

"Mr.Slate, I-"
He winces, cutting me off. "Elijah."
"Huh?"
"Kaley, my name is Elijah."

And my lovelies, I'll leave it there. Let me saw a few things:

This was an amazing and authentic student, teacher story. The writing was phenomenal and the story was perfectly portrayed. Kaley was a bit immature, and it was perfect, because she is an eighteen year old high school student. However, what I loved most about Kaley, was that she started to slowly shows signs of self discovered and self acceptance. Kaley no longer stood by while her friends used her and she became vocal about it. Her self assurance grew, not only with her family, and friends, but also with Elijah. Kaley wasn't a push over anymore.

Mr.Slate, Elijah, but I still love the naughtiness of how Mr. Slate sounds, lol. He was perfect, maybe a little too perfect. He kept his attraction in check and also his emotions to a certain point at least. He was sophistication personified. I loved the way he challenged his students and Kaley. He saw their potential and worked with them to help them improve. He was selfless, giving of his free time and energy, whilst still struggling with his own life and that of the extra activities at school. Elijah wasn't some broken and scared individual, which was so refreshing from other stories in general. Elijah handled every situation perfectly.

What I didn't like:

1) The Preface - I didn't understand it's part in the book. It initially provides the reader with an insight for what is to come, and honestly, this was anti-climatic and definitely not even worth the words.

2) The ending was a little to cliche, but hey! I'll go for the HEA.

What I loved the most:

1) The epic emotions and  reactions of her friends when Elijah came to Kaley's home. Seriously, it was a mastercard moment.

2) The fact that Elijah chose to go all out for Kaley.

3) Miss Kaley Kennedy, You are the Variable I need to solve my life's Equation. I can't let you go. YOURS, ELIJAH SLATE.

Also, there will be a 2nd book people. So look out for it!!!

Rock Addiction by Nalini Singh *Release Blitz*

Cover:  Rock Addiction (A Rock Kiss Novel)

RELEASE DATE: September 9th, 2014

Blurb
A bad boy wrapped in a sexy, muscled, grown-up package might be worth a little risk…

Molly Webster has always followed the rules. After an ugly scandal tore apart her childhood and made her the focus of the media’s harsh spotlight, she vowed to live an ordinary life. No fame. No impropriety. No pain. Then she meets Zachary Fox, a tattooed bad boy rocker with a voice like whiskey and sin, and a touch that could become an addiction.

A one-night stand with the hottest rock star on the planet, that’s all it was meant to be…

Fox promises scorching heat and dangerous pleasure, coaxing Molly to extend their one-night stand into a one-month fling. After that, he’ll be gone forever, his life never again intersecting with her own. Sex and sin and sensual indulgence, all with an expiration date. No ties, no regrets. Too late, Molly realizes it isn’t only her body that’s become addicted to Fox, but her heart…

Excerpt from ROCK ADDICTION
by Nalini Singh

Fox hadn’t become the lead singer of one of the best-selling rock bands in history by being a shrinking violet. No, he went after what he wanted, no holds barred. And the raw promise he could feel between him and Molly? He had to know where it would lead, the need so strong he hadn’t felt anything like it since the day he’d figured out that music was his escape, the air in his lungs.
Which was why he was leaning against the wall beside Molly’s apartment at five that afternoon, a guitar by his side.
The elevator doors opened at a quarter after the hour, Molly going motionless two steps outside of it, the doors closing silently at her back. Yeah, she hadn’t expected him, but Fox was ready to work with that. Waiting patiently as she took a deep breath and completed the trek down the corridor, he drew in the scent of her, his gaze lingering on the fluttering pulse in her neck.
“How did you get past security?”
Fox smiled slowly at the blurted-out question, wondering if Molly knew how bad she was at hiding her emotions. He liked it, liked that he saw the real Molly, not an illusion she’d created to tempt him—not that she had to do anything but smile to tempt him. “I told you the security sucks.”
Unable to resist, he reached out to run his finger down one creamy cheek flushed with a mix of surprise, passion, and, he was certain, sweet, hot feminine anger. His guess was borne out when Molly unlocked her door with jittery hands and put down her handbag on one corner of the bench, her fingers trembling before she curled them into her palms. “You’re breaking the rules.”
“What rules?” Closing the door, he leaned back on it and willed her to face him. Much as he loved the shape of her from the back, he liked watching those expressive eyes whisper her mood to him.
Shoulders tight, she turned. “This was supposed to be a one-night stand.”
“Ah.” Folding his arms over the plain black of his T-shirt, he said, “How about a one-month stand instead?” He knew he had to play this exactly right. Molly was wary of him, and yeah, he could understand why. To have her in his life beyond a fleeting instant, he’d have to win her trust.
She jerked up her head. “What?”
“Why not? I like you. You like me.” He smiled—because the reason Molly had needed to jerk up her head was that she’d been staring at his chest. “Admit it.”
Sitting down on the bench, she began to unzip her boots, very obviously not looking at him. “You’re okay for a rock star.”
He wanted to bite her, then pet her until she was limp and languid in his arms. “We burn up together.” Deliberately modulating his voice—his instrument—for maximum effect, low and bedroom rough, he saw her fingers stutter on the zipper. “I’m here for a month. It’s an easy equation.”
When the words “Let me think about it” fell from her mouth, he thought she might’ve been as startled as he was, her lips parting on a slight gasp—as if to call back the declaration.

Synopsis
Honey Whiskey is not a standalone book; it is the second book in the Bastards series. In order to fully understand the characters and storyline, without feeling confused, you must read the first book about Matty and Jo, Always Been Mine.

The Bastards live in a world that most don’t understand. We follow our own rules, only accountable to each other, the innocents we protect, and the people we couldn’t save. Each of us wears a mask, hiding behind a polite smile and a respectable job, covering the monsters inside. I made peace with who I was a long time ago. I have no regrets.

Except one.

I've been in love with Jo Walker for years, always standing on the sideline, playing the only position I could. When she looks at me, she sees her best friend; he's the man I want to be. I blew it once; I walked away, leaving her with more questions than answers, knowing it was best for both of us.

A few months without her made me realize that nothing mattered if I couldn’t have her. I need to get her back, and I’ll do anything she asks, including telling her my darkest truths.

I expect her to run away and never look back. That’s the smart thing to do, the safe thing to do. I’m no good for someone like her. This life will only syphon all the goodness away, leaving her bitter and cold. It seems like my choice should be easy.

But, I’m not letting her go without a fight.
