Synopsis

Welcome to the Point

There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad . . . meet Shane Baxter.

Sexy, dark, and dangerous, Bax isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks, he is the wrong side of the tracks. A criminal, a thug, and a brawler, he’s the master of bad choices, until one such choice landed him in prison for five years. Now Bax is out and looking for answers, and he doesn’t care what he has to do or who he has to hurt to get them. But there’s a new player in the game, and she’s much too innocent, much too soft…and standing directly in his way.

Dovie Pryce knows all about living a hard life and the tough choices that come with it. She’s always tried to be good, tried to help others, and tried not to let the darkness pull her down. But the streets are fighting back, things have gone from bad to worse, and the only person who can help her is the scariest, sexiest, most complicated ex-con The Point has ever produced.

Bax terrifies her, but it doesn’t take Dovie long to realize that some boys are just better when they’re bad.

About the Author

I'm supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I'm an natural redhead even though I haven't seen my real hair color in years, I'm a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I've been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that.

I love to write, love to read and all I'm interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.

CARISSA'S REVIEW

5 "redemption" stars

There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad.....

This story takes place in the Point, the wrong side of town, where criminals run the WILD, drugs, prostitution, guns and gambling are rampant. Meet bad boy Shane Baxter,23, tattooed and pierced criminal, thief, fighter, the quintessential bad boy without a bone of remorse in his body. He lives day to day, a fast tracked life, not knowing what tomorrow will bring. Recently released from jail, after being locked up for five long years. There's only one thing on his mind, from the moment he steps outside those gates and it's revenge.  He seeks out the only person that can get him the answers he wants.  Race, Bax's best friend set him up. He took the fall, a fall that lasted five years. Bax's out and looking for Race. But what he wants and what he gets, are two different things.

Dovie Pryce, innocent, stubborn, infuriatingly freckled, Dovie, Race's sister. She's had a hard life, living in the Point and surviving it,  is the hardest of all her circumstances. Found by her half brother at fourteen, he protects her and shows her love that she has never known. Race is MIA, and Dovie now has to rely on a mysterious criminal to help her find Race.

‘some boys… they are just better when they’re bad.’

"Please, Shane. Please let me help you. He's my brother. I'll do anything. I'll give you anything you want. Please."
"Are you a virgin, Copper-Top?"
"Why? What on earth does that have to do with anything?"
"You'll give me anything? I don't think you have anything I want, but I was locked up for a very long time. A guy gets lonely."
"Don't be ridiculous."
"No one calls me Shane. It's just Bax and that's why you'll only be in my way. When you say you're willing to give anything, you have to mean it. These people, they will take it all, even if it's something you don't want to give. Go home."
"We  are both going to regret this sooner than later, Copper-Top. Don't say I didn't warn you."
I wasn't sure what I had just agreed to, or what was waiting for me around the next bend.

Bax and Dovie, set out to find Race and get the answers they both are looking for. They get tangled up in a complicated web of betrayal and deceit. Which is only soothed by their growing attractions to each other.

I shouldn’t be interested in anything about her; instead, I was interested in everything about her, and I didn’t like it one bit.

“She was like some kind of balm that made all the ravaged and torn pieces of my soul feel less raw.”

This book was such a refreshing read from all other Jay Crownover books and most books in general. I was intrigued, speechless and in awe all in one breathe. Jay made me want, no crave a bad boy. Not just any bad boy but one that is bad to the core. A hands down, tell it like it is, take no prisoners, split personalities bad boy.

“I don’t know how love works, Dovie. I don’t know how to be anything other than this, but I know the only thing that gives me hope is the idea of you and me. I know I’m not the ideal, no dream guy, but no one will ever fight for you the way I will. I promise you that you will always have the best parts of me I have to give.”
