The Devil has met his match

When Tatum O'Shea decides it's time for some payback, no one is safe from her new game - not even the devil himself. Tate is going to get her happily ever after, even if it means making everyone else unhappy in the process.

But a persistent Jameson, a meddling Sanders, and an amorous baseball player make it very hard for a girl to keep her focus, and suddenly it seems Tate has a few too many suitors for her fairy tale ending.

Sometimes, it's very difficult to tell who Prince Charming really is ...

WARNING: may induce Kindle throwing, screaming at fictional characters, and possibly a few tears. Also graphic sexual situations and sadomasochistic themes.

Excerpt
Jameson watched the Bentley pull up the driveway. Sanders got out of it, alone. They hadn't spoken the entire time. Jameson hadn't called – if he had, he probably would've lost his shit. And he didn't want to do that. Sanders probably hadn't called for the very same reason. “Nice little vacation you had there,” Jameson commented, taking in Sanders' rumpled suit. “I wouldn't say that,” the younger man replied, heading into the house and straight into the kitchen. Jameson followed him. “I almost thought you had left with her,” he voiced his fear. Sanders stopped in front of a cupboard. “I would never do that. I simply tried to reason with her,” he said. “Oh really. And how did that go?” Jameson snorted. Sanders snorted as well and pulled open the cupboard. “Not well. She is severely unbalanced.” Jameson was a little shocked as he watched Sanders pull a bottle Jack Daniel's out of the cupboard. He walked up next to him, watched as Sanders got a tumbler out of another cupboard and then poured about three-fingers worth of the amber liquid into the glass. “She's also a bad influence. What are you doing?” Jameson demanded. Sanders handed the glass to him. “This is for you,” he replied. Jameson took the glass. “Oh god, why?” he groaned, then knocked back the liquid. “She offered to sleep with me.” Jameson started choking on the whiskey. Sanders pounded on his back, but Jameson waved him away. Stumbled over to the sink and turned on the faucet, stuck his mouth underneath it. He must have heard wrong. He couldn't believe it. “I'm sorry,” he gasped for air, leaning against the counter. “You'll have to repeat that. What happened?” “Sex. She offered to have sex with me.” “I see. Did you take her up on this offer?” Pause. Oh my god. I have to kill Sanders. How am I going to do this? That stupid bitch ...

Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ..., forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT. I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me. Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

Synopsis
Is the cure for a breakup a hookup? Marissa Duplei has one mission. Pick herself up, dust the ex off, and get dirty with someone else. However, sexy, inked-up, metal-musician Jack Storm is not the average girl’s revenge fling. A tour bus bang. A one night stand gone awry. A secret to keep at all costs. Could it all lead to love?

♪♫ Marissa ♫♪
Looking back, everything about that day was a perfect storm. My bestfriend’s score of two VIP passes the day before the Hang Fest. A giant hurricane with a generous shot of alcohol. A sexy metal musician who was opposite of my cheating fiancé in every way. The inked up muscled arms holding a tiny puppy protectively to his bare chest told me there was more to him than met the eye. I had to know more. I’ve always been practical. I know I wouldn’t have seen him again if I hadn’t rolled out of bed and stepped into the shower.

♪♫ Jack ♫♪
That's true. A Perfect Storm. There was the puppy my sister forced on me as an exercise in commitment. And for damn sure, the cutoff shorts and tight sleeveless top she was wearing that day. The tan line well past the very short hem and way above the very low neckline of her tank top told me the packaging on this girl was deceptive. I had to know more. Much more. It likely would have ended like every other hookup in that tour bus—if I hadn’t followed her into the shower afterward.

  ♪♫♫♪

That shower was the beginning of us. The point where we became more than a chance possibility. The part never told in countless interviews. I’m Marissa, and Jack may jump in. Here’s our story… Author’s note Eye of the Storms is the first POV, Spicy Hot, Original Edition of Marissa and Jack's story as written three years ago. The 3rd POV Clean version was never acceptable to those who first loved Jack and Marissa as told in her voice and his—those who encouraged the story to be published and spent hours beta reading and making suggestions. I love you guys, you are my rock stars. So here a year later, is the Anniversary Edition, aka the Original, Hot, First POV edition of Jack and Marissa.

Excerpt
So why this Marissa? Why was she different? I had no idea. I only knew I wanted to rock her world like it had never been shaken before. And I wanted to taste her… again… I loved every sound she made, and I loved feeling her nails biting into my shoulders. She orgasmed with a melodic pitch, which cracked at the end of one long hum. I’d heard it enough in the last couple of hours now to be familiar with it, to fall for it. Her legs gelled, her weight falling to her palms on my shoulders. Reflexively, I gripped her hips. Straightening, I quickly pulled her close, wanting to feel the pound of her heart and uneven breathing—wanting to experience the physiological effect I’d had on her, now that I’d heard the audible. My hands slipped from her tits around to her backside, and remembering the quick glimpse of her ass, I spun her away for another look. I could look at that view forever. Her arms were bent, palms to the faux tile pattern on the wall, and her head rested forward on the tiles. A totally submissive stance. And having this woman at my complete will turned me on like I hadn’t been in so long.

4 “Hey” "what if" stars

A refreshingly sweet and swoon worthy romance story.

Jack Storm and Marissa Duplei come across each other at a Rock festival, when a little cutie pie of a puppy catches Marissa's eye. Running wildly and still attached to his leash. Marissa scoops him up and they both go in search of his owner.

Marissa was a lot nicer than I would have been. If I came across this cutie, he would have been puppy napped.

Marissa stumbles across Jack Storm, puppy owner, lead vocalist for the Jackal, tatted hottiiieeee, and her perfect distraction from a cheating fiance. One quick fix way to get over one guy, is to shack up with another, Not in the literal sense, Just the provocative, sexy, passionate sense. Ohlallllaaaaaa!!

Forget the puppy (poor guy), there is an instant sizzling attraction between Jack and Marissa.

A one day stand with two scorching sessions, leaves both Marissa and Jack still reeling from their passionate encounter months later.

All good things come to those who wait.

Five years later and Marissa is still holding on to the one blatantly obvious secret she never mentioned. A situation arises that requires her to reach out to Jack. Seeking help, Marissa will be revealing the secret that kept her from accepting his invitation years ago to see him again. Although the secret is not a hard one to guess, I'll let you discover that on your own.

With Marissa and Jack forced back into each others lives, the connection they shared that one afternoon is still there. But there are far too many issues with them both. They have serious  communication issues that leave these two constantly getting their signals crossed. Jack has trust issues, which is definitely understandable, in his type of business. Marissa has avoidance issues. The woman can evade like crazy. Talk about turning a topic around.

What I loved the most about this book, has been the small hint of anger when Marissa first calls Jack. That small amount of stormy anger seemed to stroke the entire bad boy "Rocker" vibe. The book isn't filled with much angst that one normally associates with Alpha males and bad boy rocker books. Jack is a "to die for" sweetie pie. He made me fall in love with him from the beginning. From his concern and soft hearted care, during their first "so called" anonymous encounter.

Marissa got me annoyed with her insecurities and games. This is where the avoidance issues comes in to play. Before she talks to Jack, she makes all these assumptions about him and as per usual, the judgy attitude towards all Rock Stars and the image they represent.

Lisa Gillis added such a wonderful blend of sweet and sultry with a hint of laugh out loud hilarity.

“Mariss, if anything, you’re too skinny. I thought stress had you underweight…”

“Too skinny.” A gurgle of a laugh was on my lips. “That’s such a line.”

“A line? Not one I ever used,” he scoffed, as he swung a left.

“Well you just did.” – Marissa

“There’s not a girl alive who doesn’t know. When a guy says that, he is wanting in your pants.”

“Jack couldn’t fit in your pants.” Tristan

“His legs are way too long.” Tristan

Ahhh the sheer innocence of a child. Thank God!

I was a little stomped with the ending, for me it ended abruptly. Non the less, it was such an endearing read that kept a smile on my face all through the book. I can't wait to see what happens next.

     Retrace LIVE

Prologue

Reeves
~3 years ago, somewhere near Lake Erie, Ohio My heart drums in my ears, beating fast and hard. I’m poised. My face reveals nothing. No stress, no panic, not so much as a twitch of a muscle or a bead of sweat. I do this thing I’ve mastered throughout the years. I hold my eyes cold and calculated – they tell nothing. I look the dark, bearded man before me square in the eyes, waiting. No matter what, I cannot blow my cover. We, that is, Ben who’s sitting on the sofa opposite me and I, can’t reveal our cover no matter what the cost. I inwardly repeat: there are thousands of lives on the line. “Did you think you could pull it off?” the man asks. He has a deep scar across his prickled cheek and he holds a semi-automatic at my best friend Ben’s temple. “We are on to you, you son of a bitch.” He grits his teeth and kicks Ben full in the ribs. Ben groans and my gut wrenches viciously. We manage to exchange a concealed glance between us, a flit glance that says so much, a look that feels more like a goodbye. I take inner deep breaths and summon every bit of willpower I have to stay still. A strong intuition brews within me. Something terrible is about to happen. My entire body throbs with dread. And there’s absolutely nothing I can fucking do. Nothing! At the back of our minds we’ve always known, Ben and I. Something like this could happen to either of us, if not both of us. I’ve looked death in the eyes so many times it’s become habitual. But this time I’m petrified because it’s not my life that’s at risk, it’s my best friend who I’ve known for the last fifteen years that’s in real danger. There’s more talking in this Middle Eastern language that I’m fluent in. Words pronounced deeper in the throat are barked at Ben. I hear but I don’t listen. Inside I’m numb. I know what’s coming is inevitable, and with each ticking of the clock the anxiety within me grows. Both tanned, solemn men give me another assessing scan just to make sure they are right, that I truly am one of them. With a small confirming nod from the guy in the expensive suit who is sitting on the plush sofa across the misty room, the gun goes off once. For a beat, before mourning enfolds me, I’m paralyzed. I look at the scene before me, because I know I’m expected to. It could be some sick initiation I’m supposed to pass. I look, but I look through it, I don’t see it. I’m playing a part. I’m on a mission that can save many civilian lives. That’s what’s holding me back from losing control and exacting merciless retribution for Ben’s life. I cannot break down. I cannot blow this thing up. Instead, I keep my face placid, slouching back in the chair, looking the killer straight in the eyes. As Ben’s body drops, my heart stops. With his last breath, I know my life would never be the same.

Prologue

Nia
~3 years ago, Fortaleza, Brazil My eyes are swollen. The purple-black marks have faded some, but nevertheless they are still evident on my face. I study my image as it reflects in my notebook’s screen and wince. I carefully touch my lip with the pads of my fingers. It’s still tender and has a sickening iron taste to it. My other hand instinctively reaches for my bandaged ribs. No matter how deep the pain I’m still nursing, or the way I look, I still want him next to me. Nothing has changed, I love him just the same. Nothing has changed, at least not for me. The sound of the front door opening pulls me back from my thoughts. There’s a jingle of keys as they land in the glass bowl, I listen for the familiar call, asking if I’m home, but it doesn’t come. My brows knit as I wait. I shrug and call out, “I’m in here.” In place of an answer there’s a low exchange of words. I can’t make out what’s being said, but the tone itself seeds alarm within me. Footsteps climb the stairs to the second floor of the house. My parents appear at my door and my heart faints at their expressions. Color has left their faces. But it’s what echoes from their eyes that sucks the air right out of me – a dual vision of fatality. “Nia, it’s… Patrick,” My mom’s voice breaks as she tries to speak. “They found him earlier…” My dad finishes. Their lips keep moving but the sounds coming out of their mouths are stretched and heavy, as if they are speaking under water. My mother’s teary eyes caress me. She moves her hand to mine and I flinch back. I shake my head violently from side to side. “No. No…. No, no, no, no, no.” I bring my hand to cover my mouth, muffling the hysterical sounds coming out. “No, no, no, it can’t be,” I repeatedly murmur. They both look at me in pain, hopeless. I shake my head and move back on my bed, digging into the corner with my feet, resembling a scared animal. My tears almost choke me, and my body shakes uncontrollably. “It can’t be…” I whisper, my words breaking at the tail end of my sentence. “He is gone, Nia love. He is gone.” My mother’s words are so soft but yet so powerful, they paralyze me. Something takes over me in a sudden ferocious flash. Something resilient, spreading to every part of me. Guilt. And with his last breath, I know my life would never be the same.

Guest post ‘My inspiration for Retrace’

"I can’t put my finger on anything specific that inspired me to write RETRACE. It was more a blend of many things that eventually grew into a story about letting go and learning to love and accept. Some of the key elements that did inspire me though, were a few crazy, vivid dreams that eventually turned into scenes, music, a lot of music, and mainly the characters themselves. Reeves and Nia practically seized my mind to the point I couldn't concentrate on anything else and just had to pour their story out of me. The book traces their hesitant journey into deep friendship that helps them cope with traumatic pasts, and gradually leads them to discover the path to heal and accept. As Nia and Reeves’ characters developed into people I believed my readers would feel strongly about, and connect with, in tandem the story took shape into an emotional ride with touches of angst, humor, suspense and a whole lot of steam…"

1.1)      “He dismantles me, slowly and painstakingly. Layer after layer, he peels off my barriers and clothes until I’m naked—physically and emotionally, naked. I am completely bared before him, body and soul. It's a blanket he covers me with, but I know it's his heart that wraps me to truly feel as warm and protected as I finally do.”

2. 2)    “Hey. I’m the neighbor from upstairs, can I borrow some sex?”

3.  3)    “I think I’ve just fallen deeper in friendship with you.”
“You’ve been in friendship with me?”
“Hopelessly…”

4.     4) “Her eyes are indeed strikingly beautiful, but they seem to be in some perpetual mourning, even when she smiles. Ironically so, just like mine.”

5.  5)    “He made me look at the world with brighter colors. I feel whole again, as much as one can truly feel whole when a piece of your heart was taken away for good.”

She observes my offered palm for a short moment, and fills it with her soft one. Bare, groomed fingernails, just the way I like. In unison our stares drop to where our palms link. Something’s happening there, something that produces energy with unworldly speed.
“Miss Mitchell,” she says, prompting our stares to re-meet. Her expression a transparent tease. I nod, amusement playing on my face.
“Well, we’ve crossed nudity off the list, so I guess it’s safe to say we should be okay on a first name basis…”
She mirrors my glee. “It’s Nia.”
Nia. I repeat her name in my head. Everything about her is just what I like, neat and natural, and absolutely gorgeous. All the good reasons for me to get the hell out of here.
“It was a pleasure,” I say and send her a wicked grin.
She sighs with a smile, in a “what’s done is done, I can’t take it back,” kind of shy way.”

Sigal Ehrlich gives us two scarred and broken characters. Each living day to day with the ghosts of their pasts haunting them. Both unable to shed the despair and guilt that continues as they attempt to move forward.

Reeves Mitchell,  retired FBI agent, continues to fight an internal battle. A battle which drives and fuels his emotions. His sense of honor is becoming intensely fierce as he wars with choosing between his duty to avenge the murder of his best friend, and then the duty to move on and protect.

Nia Martins, is looking for a fresh start. She leaves her Brazilian home after a horrific and fatal family incident, which left her inundated with guilt. Using her mother's maiden name she is now Nia Mitchell, dance teacher, neighbour and soon to become the "friendly" neighbour.

Both Mitchell's first encounter was an Oscar worthy scene. It was sexy, hilarious, cocky, and filled with suspense. Reeves did not disappoint in his reaction, especially being male. And Nia, well Nia just made it even funny with her little quips.

Now this is where it started to waver for me (The book cover and synopsis intrigued me. The prologue enticed and excited my reading powers *got all wiggly and tingly*). Entering the fourth chapter, I kept convincing myself “the story” will drop and I’ll be blown away. So when I got to 56% and nothing happens. Just two main characters dancing around each other, becoming friendly and “friendlier,” what should a girl do???

I loved that the prelude to their friendship was well established. However, it was too lengthy and because of this it was slow and uneventful for me. It was a push to continue to be honest.

At 65-70% is where the story started to become interesting. Thank God for Katie. She added some spunk and dynamics to the story. Katie is the obsessed little sister to Reeves murdered, best friend, Ben. She's been in love with Reeves, forever. When she realizes that Reeves and Nia's friendship has become sexual and especially when Nia is invited over for dinner with the family, that's when Katie steps in to put Nia in her place. Katie in no uncertain terms, informs Nia that her "relationship" with Reeves is nothing more than him passing time. That Katie and Reeves are awaiting the perfect time to be together.

This revelation slowly destroyed Nia as she continues to replay every instance her and Reeves have been together and he always had to leave because one name always pops up "Katie." She can't love and lose again. Especially knowing that slowly he was putting her back together again.

This status update from Katie further seals the deal for Nia, when Reeves continues to be sincere when they're in bed and alone, with all his sweet and supporting words.

Then he quickly reverts in public to introducing and emphasizing the term "friendship" or "neighbour"to everyone.  Like really dude!!! WTF!!! Get an effing clue.

Reeves knows Nia is more to him than a friend and a neighbour. But he can't or won't seem to put a label on what "it" is exactly. All he knows is that

Synopsis

He holds me captive with his brilliant blue eyes. His crooked smile melts me every time. His voice wraps around me when he sings. His words break through and dive straight to my heart. Dash Ford, lead singer of Redemption, is unlike any man I’ve ever met and I'm drawn to not only his lyrics but the man behind the voice. But I am broken—beyond broken. I had no intention of falling for him. But when we met, I had no other option. With him, I embrace the present while trying to put my past behind me. I find myself in a world I never expected, a world I’m not entirely sure I can handle. Am I strong enough? Will I be enough for a man who has everything? Can I finally let go and give into the love I’ve wanted my whole life? Or will my past forever define and haunt me, keeping me from all I desire?

Excerpt
At center stage stands the lead singer, his head down, gripping the microphone. He opens his mouth, and the voice that oozes out of it sends a shiver down my spine. The screeching I heard earlier today is nowhere to be found. His voice is raw, deep, and raspy, its richness soothing. My ears are in love with his voice. I’m captivated, as he begins to sing the first line of the song. My heart pounds in my chest, my breathing accelerates, and I am mesmerized. He continues to sing, and the grittiness of his voice ignites a fire inside me that can't be contained. I find myself standing, hollering, and surprising the shit out of Tracy and Val. Hell, I'm surprising myself. The lyrics permeate my brain and float around in my head, turning me to goo. His words of hurt and anger resonate in my soul. It’s as if what he’s singing, he’s feeling and has lived. My heart aches in my chest for him if there is any truth behind his words. I finally notice the two enormous Jumbotron-like TV screens on either side of the stage. The camera focuses on him and he stares directly into the lens. His steel-blue eyes smolder and captivate me. I feel like I am under his spell. It goes on like this through the entire concert. Each song he sings I’m entranced by him, unable to break the chains that his voice and eyes bind me with. Finally the lights go out, the music stops, and I am no longer spellbound—a sense of loss fills me.

3 stars

A collision of worlds- fake and real, pretty and glittery and dark and raw- the demolition of inhibitions and the understanding of what it is to be truly broken.

We are given two strong lead characters that are both emotional messes. Krist Mellas is the bass player and vocalist for Half-life. Madeline Fox is a teenage pop princess.

When Madeline and Krist get together the atmosphere sizzles. Maddy and Krist have this  explosive chemistry and it only gets steamier when they are thrust upon each other due to circumstances that they created. Each one trying to escape- Maddy from her virginal, pop star princess status and Krist from his painful, loveless past, and his now, world wide sex tape.

Maddy and Krist are two faces of the same coin. Both of them have tarnished images, and not the good kind that sells records. But, one created it on purpose and the other through lust. Exploited due to his sexual preference, Amber Lin and Shari Slade, combine a lovely novella show casing the taboo topic of sexuality and societal biases. Perception is a powerful word. And it unleashes its full potential in this book.

One Kiss With A Rock Star is filled with sex. Sex here there and everywhere. One will definitely think its on overload. Yet, in reading and I mean truly reading between the lines, we'll see that both characters are sexual predators. Predator, in that they both hunt for the feeling of emotion, hunters against loneliness, and yet preys to themselves.

“I don’t know what’s real anymore, but I’m not sure I care. When I’m touching you, it’s the only time I don’t feel like I’m drowning.” – Krist
