A shifter made of stone. And wings.

A joke could be made with those two lines.

But the town of Woodland Creek, it's no laughing matter. Hostile and magical residents guard their secrets. It's too easy to be found out.

When Isaac Stone first meets Kennedy Kirk, he's tempted to shove her off the clock tower. After all, she is gripping his private parts to lean over and see his town. One little push is all it would take...

Isaac never anticipated he'd be the one to fall.

This is my first Scarlett Dawn read and I must say, this author captured me. She also had me bewildered. Yet, the dark, unknown and mystical characters intrigued me.

One night, in a drunken stupor, Kennedy Kirk, falls heads first off the clock tower. In plunging to her untimely death, she is magically saved by a dying Wizard. A Wizard that bestows his magical book and powers unto her. With this new found power, Kennedy now understands that the town she lives in, is over run with magical beings called Shifters. All living within Woodland Creek.

The very own Mayor, Isaac Stone, and his affluent family are Gargoyles.

A shifter made of stone. And wings.

With this new knowledge, Kennedy traverses her life in Woodland Creek, making sure to stay out of the way of these Shifters.  With her impression of them as vile creatures, preying on the innocent humans, it's only logical that her love life includes a Shifter hunter.

Kennedy is still evaluating her life, and her direction for the future. For the time been she is working in a Flower Shop and has a second job as a courier.  An all knowing Wizard needed a package delivered on a night where all hell broke lose. A night that a powerful magic unleashed all inhibitions and called to the baser carnal needs of everyone, Shifter and humans alike. Everywhere people were involved in sexual acts. The intense pull, making them fornicate with the closest person.

This night proved futile for Kennedy's plight to stay away from all Shifters, when she finds herself drawn to Isaac. The pull of the magical spell brought them together in lust and desire. Their intense night together, sealed their fate, and now these two must battle the impending evil surrounding Woodland Creek. While Kennedy finds herself sandwiched between two men- one gargoyle, one hunter - and too much testosterone for one female to handle.

This was an interesting tale about the Shifter world. SD confused me with the lust driven night in question. I felt that the attempt to create and portray the night as magically induced and against the willpower of humans and shifters, was overdone. This in turn made the opening chapter confusing and difficult for me as a reader to understand the intention. Until later in the book where it was better explained.
