Conviction by Lesley Jones Book Summary
She was mine. Our love unquestioned. Our futures planned.
But she didn't show. All that we had, all that we meant, and after all that was
said, she just didn't show. That one act by her changed everything, but it
especially changed me and from that moment on, there was no going back. No
words of love, no whispered promises, just sex and drugs and rock and roll. No
one gets a piece of Reed, but what they will get is the night of their life,
the chance to let go, break their own rules and enjoy the best, the dirtiest,
filthiest sex ever... Along with the other four people in my bed.
I thought he loved
me, I believed everything he said, every promise that he made but then, when I
needed him more than I'd needed anyone in my life, when I was at my most
vulnerable, he let me down. He chose to take a different path and leave me to
pick up the pieces of my now broken life. I was changed forever and chose the
easy option, letting others take charge of my destiny, until once again, I'm
let down in the cruelest of ways.
Dirty filthy sex.
Love.
Heartbreak.
Betrayal.
High emotion.
And a bit more sex.
Conviction by International bestselling author, Lesley
Jones has it all. Out March 2015.
Lesley Jones Biography
I was born and raised in a small
working class town in Essex, just outside of East London. I am married with
three sons and in 2006 we all moved to the other side of the world, settling on
the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, about 50K outside of Melbourne, Australia.
It's a whole new way of life for us down here, we are so lucky to live in such
a beautiful part of the world.
I am currently a stay at home mum
but in the past I have worked at Marks & Spencer, as a classroom
assistant/teachers aid and have run my business.
As well as writing, I love to read and have been known to get through four or
five books a week. My other interests are watching my boys play football...The
round ball version. I am happy to admit
to being an addict of social media and I owe a lot to my Facebook and Twitter
family in promoting my work. I am also rather partial to a glass... or bottle
of wine, a nicely chilled Marlborough Sav Blanc being my favorite. Being a born
and raised Essex girl, I will happily admit to be being a big fan of spray
tans, Shellac and am regularly, waxed, tinted and sculpted, although I am more
likely to be found in thongs/flipflops than a pair of white stilettos these
days.

A story of soul mates and second chances- forced into taking separate paths that eventually lead back to each other. Unity and love can never be overcomed without the CONVICTION to fight.
Lesley Jones starts us off with teenagers, Conner Reed and Nina Matthews, professing their undying love for each other but whose lives takes differing paths than what they planned. Matters of circumstance and betrayal, leaves these young lovers to lead unfulfilling and destructive lives. Each attempting to fill the empty void within their lives. Each craving and yearning for a life of contentment.
Nina and Conner are in different places in their lives. Conner's a world famous Rock Star. Not the poor, wrong side of society and train tracks eighteen year old boy he once was. A single action caused ripple effects that changed Conner's life forever. Leading him into a downward spiraling pit of despair and loneliness. Fifteen years later and Reed is now the lead guitarist for Shift. Now renowned and pushing all the limits, Reed embraces his sexual predilections. He uses the eroticism of voyeuristic sex to stifle his tortured soul. To mask his hate for intimacy. His only form of escapism.
Conner blames Nina for every bad thing that has happened since that ill fated night. His hate for her is as strong as his love once was, and still, undeniably is. But that doesn't mean he's going down that path again. Love scarred him once, but never again.
Nina Matthews is living a lie. Trapped in a loveless marriage, lacking emotional and physical intimacy. She is desperately hanging on by threads. Nina puts all her focus into her job and managing her business. Of course, the not so occasional bottle or two, even three, helps it all along. Nina has made numerous sacrifices throughout her life, but non made her happy and non were truly made for her well being. Ruled by her family, manipulated by her brother and controlled by her husband. It always seemed to me, that Nina didn't have much care towards her own life. Because she just ambled along and after anything her "so called" loved ones said and did. She infuriated me with her weakness and her inability to THINK for herself.
It was bittersweet that Nina was fighting tooth and nail for intimacy and yet, Conner, was shunning it fiercely.
Reminiscing about young love that once was, Nina longs for the tender caress of that love, of that eighteen year old boy that professed his love for her. Once upon a time that young boy loved her like no other. Fifteen years later and all traces of that boy is gone. In place is a morsel of utter perfection. The man known as, Reed.
As hard and emotionally disconnected as Reed is, his only weakness, is Nina. "...a blue eyed, blonde haired girl from Surrey can bring me to my knees...."
Seeing her again after fifteen long, torturous years, brings to the surface all the pain and heartbreak, along with tons of unanswered questions. Questions that he will darn sure be getting the answers to. As they reunite, their young love turns into a raging passion. Devastating secrets and utter betrayals are revealed. Conner's insecurities surface and Nina must fight to save herself.
Spoilers
This was an issue for me. All the kinky, sexual, voyeuristic tendancies went caputs!! when Meebs and Conner became intimate again. Their sexually intimate scenes was downright disappointing. I expected more physical passion and some kinkiness. BUT!! NADDA.
I had a hard time not feeling an intense sense of deja vue with LJ's Carnage series.(Carnage is downright the best book ever written). This aspect threw me off many times while reading. I kept shaking my head, lots.
Nina is such a weak heroine to me. She was such a push over. It pissed me off, greatly!
